Headhunting, Lecture 14.10.2026
Today we had a guest speaker from a headhunting boutique. He told us about his career and how he got into headhunting himself.
It was very interesting to learn a little bit about the industries he works with, for example electronics, mechanical engineering and consulting firms. We also talked about the money side: a headhunter earns a fee when he closes a deal – that means when the candidate he found really signs the contract.
My question to him was: “What are red flags for you in an interview?” His answer was simple, but very helpful. These are the things he pays attention to:
– Keep eye contact.
– Watch your body language in general.
– Be a good listener.
– Be good at summarizing – show that you really understood what the other person said.
– Be a kind person. Just be nice to everyone.
My reflection: None of these points are about grades or your CV. They are all about how you behave and how you treat other people.
My takeaway: These tips are not only important for my next job interview, but also for my daily life.
