Assessment Center, Lecture 30.09.2026

In today's lecture we discussed the advantages and disadvantages of assessment centers, the difficulties they can bring, and how we can prepare for one.

It reminded me of the assessment center for my apprenticeship, where I had to face all of these elements: several interviews, group projects and discussions, in-tray exercises and a math test.

One aspect I noticed back then, and again in today's lecture, is how much time an assessment center takes.

But coming back to career management, it's the same as in our daily lives: we need certain actions to develop ourselves into the version we'd like to be. An assessment center is overall a good tool for finding the right person for a company – so be prepared for it, because sometimes the whole of life is an assessment center!
